United Helping Hands Outreach (UHHO)

Introduction:

Many disasters have destroyed many communities and lives worldwide over the past few years. UHHO has established what we call “Project Now”.  “Project Now” is a program that recruits volunteers to form Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) to assist their community when disasters strike.  Our emphasis is to go into different communities (homeowners associations, apartments, senior citizens communities, etc…) to train and prepare residents and business establishments for natural and/or manmade disasters.  UHHO’s training material is guided through Citizens Corps Department of Human Services and FEMA.

United Helping Hands Outreach (UHHO) is a 501c3 nonprofit, faith based organization, that’s focused on establishing CERT Training and Awareness, establishing a food bank, feeding the needy, and assist the homeless in the Houston area and worldwide.

The Need:

UHHO currently have trained Community Emergency Response Team members that are on stand-by in case of a natural disaster; however we are in need of many supplies and operations capital. Our needs list for CERT include, but not limited to: warehouse and office space for storage, training, classroom and CERT exercise facilities, training equipment and supplies.

How It Works and Who It Serves:

UHHO recruits volunteers in Houston and surrounding areas. We will establish relationships with firefighters and medical professionals to teach and assist CERT volunteers. Participants then acquire training manuals and supplies. Once training is fulfilled, volunteers receive a Certificate of Completion from UHHO and enroll in a yearly refresher course.  Everyone can play a part in helping someone else.

Summary:

UHHO will provide CERT training to individuals and group volunteers. As a result it will give the new CERT volunteer a sense of belonging and also motivate them to involve their friends, family and loved ones to participate and/or enroll in UHHO’s CERT program.  I truly believe that UHHO’s CERT training course in affiliation with Citizen’s Corp Department of Human Resources and FEMA will have a long term impact on their life and the lives of others.

UHHO will correlate with other disaster organizations for continual updates and additions to training materials and sources.  We are determined to be the number one emergency training group in our area and build strong relationships with different prevalent organizations.
